Walking In Light or Darkness
I John 1:5-10
Darkness - The partial or total absence of light
Light - Also called luminous energy, radiant energy. Electromagnetic radiation to which the organs of sight react
In the early 1st century light was created by fire. Fire has certain qualities.
Fire=Sight
Hebrews 2:9-12 But we SEE Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (10) For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. (11) For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, (12) Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.
Fire=Change
2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a NEW CREATURE: old things are passed away; behold, all things are BECOME NEW.
Colossians 3:5-14 MORTIFY therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: (6) For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: (7) In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. (8) But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. (9) Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; (10) And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (11) Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; (13) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. (14) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Fire=Power
Act 4:33 And with great POWER gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
1John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the VICTORY that overcometh the WORLD, even our faith.
Fire=Energy
Isaiah 40:30-31 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: (31) But they that wait upon the LORD shall RENEW THEIR STRENGTH; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Darkness is the absence of these qualities. If these qualities are not present in the one’s life they are walking in darkness. In other words, they are walking in the same blind, powerless, weak life they were born into.
